A NYE Wedding with Retro Flair
This New Year’s Eve my cousin Maggie wed her (now) husband Jared in a gorgeous ceremony on top of Hartford, CT with the city skyline, dazzling lights and holiday fireworks bursting into glorious cascades of color all setting the perfect mood not only to ring in a new year but for a blessed union.
The Bond Ballroom was their venue and it’s a historic landmark that was built in two stages - one in 1913 and the other in 1921. You can see the ornate details - the gorgeous French doors, the elegant windows that stretch to the ceiling (with window seats), and the Gatsby-esque chandelier that brings prisms of light and joy on to the grand ballroom.
Maggie and Jared’s wedding decor was classy, elegant and modern yet oh so 1920’s - black feather, gold and silver, and plenty of New Year’s Eve party hats that could have been worn in 1940. The men all looked dapper and the women all wore elegant, sparkly gold dresses. Maggie looked like she stepped out of a magazine from the mid century yet completely modern for 2018/2019.
Growing up, I was very close to my cousins - especially the girls close to my age- and it was so amazing seeing her fall in love and watch her get married. From playing at the beach and making sandcastles to this moment counting down a new year and watching Maggie marry Jared was extremely heartfelt and sweet. Jared is in the military and I’m so thankful for his service to our country. They make a dynamic couple. They make a gorgeous couple and their wedding was set in a breathtaking ballroom that was a vintage dream.
I wore a sequin detail dress from Venus. I absolutely adored seeing the sea of sparkly, colorful dresses and well tailored suits!
I included some of my favorite pictures of the wedding and then below, pictures of my dress (which would be perfect for anyone looking for a dress with 70’s vibes!). The first three pictures of the wedding are from the extremely talented Jewel Photo!
